Polite Little Girl

She's such a polite little girl recently, saying all her "thank you" whenever I did something for her. Usually she only said it when I asked her to. =p

I bought her a new Leapfrog Talking Words Factory dvd and when I played it for her, she immediately said "thank you" to me. So sweet! =)

In the car this morning, without her asking, I played her Chinese songs cd and I didn't expect her to say thank you to me but she did! On her own! =)

I'm so proud of her and I hope she remains a polite little girl! =)

Lonely Christmas

Why lonely? Cos Daddy has been working, working and working a lot these past few weeks and probably even through this Christmas long weekend. =((((

He's so busy at work due to plant start up that I don't get to see him for days cos when he's back, I'm already sleeping and when I'm up, he's already gone to work. =((((

Poor Daddy! He even worked long hours over the past 3 weekends!

Mummy is not happy about it but there's nothing she can do even though she has been nagging Daddy to take turns with his colleague but to no avail. Mummy thinks his company is super bad in resource planning!

Hopefully, Daddy can take a day off this weekend to spend it with us.

Pray! Pray! Pray!

Winter Wonderland In Holland

Boy! 2 winters spent in Holland and we've never seen such snowstorm!

On one hand, I'm glad we are already back in rainy Singapore cos I simply can't stand the cold and being holed up at home due to the snow.

On another hand, I'm a bit miffed that we never encountered such a beautiful winter scene when in Holland! I'm sure Trisha would love it!

Scrapbook From School

I mentioned earlier that last week was Meet-The-Parents session in Trisha's childcare center, right? During that session, the teachers showed us a scrapbook of photos of Trisha having lessons, singing, eating, playing with her friends in school and we received it this week for our family to view and read. Here's the photos version. =p

First Meet-The-Parents Session

Today marks another milestone in Trisha's life....come to think of it, it's our milestone too...hehehe. Our very first "Meet-The-Parents" session in her childcare center. *Sob Sob* our girl is growing up so fast and soon we'll be crying at her graduation ceremony....(hahah crying with joy cos we finally don't have to pay for the hefty education fees...hahah!=p)

So what did the teachers tell us during the session?

We were first in the class yesterday, hhhmmm.....wonder why? Maybe by age cos she's the second oldest in her class. So the principal and teachers sometimes call her 二姐. =p They feedbacked that

1. She's progressed a lot since she joined in mid July.

2. She has learned to be independent in her self help skills, like eating, washing hands, indicating she wants to go to the toilet, etc.

3. One bad habit she has is that she likes to pick food that has dropped on the floor and put in her mouth! Oh gosh, didn't know she has this bad habit! =(

4. She loves music lessons and particpated eagerly in all her lessons as well.

5. She can draw and do her art and craft quite well.

6. She's very helpful and keen to help. For example, she'll help other students take their water bottles when it's time to drink water. Even when they don't need her help, she insisted and kids being kids, would think she's trying to "steal" their bottles. She needs to learn how to "let go" and help at the appropriate time!=p

7. She's loving towards the younger kids. When Joey first joined the class, she was crying for her Daddy. Trisha would go to her to hug and kiss her (when Joey doesn't really want that..heheh. =p) and get some tissue paper to wipe Joey's tears and hold Joey's hands. =) However, she need to learn how to manage her strength as she can be quite forceful or use too much strength when hugging the younger kids.

8. Her Mandarin is not as good as her English. Wheneven 张老师 talked to her in Mandarin, she responded in English or when asked her to speak in Mandarin, she looked away. Actually she understood, just either doesn't want to respond in Mandarin or doesn't know how to. It's the same at home and it all boils down to the environment. Mummy has been speaking Mandarin to her at home but that's not enough. We will need the grandparents' help too but somehow they will lapse into English when speaking to their precious granddaughter cos she will understand better and they want her to understand them....Sigh....think this is an uphill task for Daddy and Mummy! More Chinese cartoons/educational shows and books starting from now!

9. She can be quite quiet and doesn't speak up sometimes in classes. However, there are certain times that when no responses are needed from her, she talked a lot, eg, when questions are posted to her classmates, she wanted to answer for them. Hmm...think she need to learn when is the right time to speak up!

10. Lastly, she is honest and will admit she did something wrong when asked. She will sometimes even tell the whole story of what has happened and why she did something wrong. =p For example, she'll tell Mummy/teachers that her classmate beat her/scratched her. When asked why they did that, she will honestly tell us that she snatched their toys, hence the retaliation from them. This will be the time when we teach her NOT to snatch other kids' toys but to wait for her turn or ask nicely to play with their toys.

That's about all Mummy and Daddy can recall. Here's a summary of what the teachers put in her progress report!

Trisha, Daddy and Mummy are very proud of your progress! Keep it up! =) We love you! =)
